Cup in two parts. Sterling silver cup with an engraved inscription, 'SAINSBURYS CHALLENGE CUP INTER-SECTION FOOTBALL COMPETITION'. The cup has two handles and features a stamped hallmark indicating that it was made in Birmingham in 1918. An unidentified makers mark is also present.
The cup rests on a two tier turned wooden stand encircled by a silver plate bearing the names and dates of past winners. The stand also has 14 shield-shaped metal plates (each engraved with a winner's name and date) pinned to its lower tier. There is a partial green paper circle attached to the base.
