The obverse features an inscription around the outside of the medal, 'SMITHFIELD CLUB FOUNDED 1798' and two central profile portraits of the Duke of Richmond and Earl Spencer, both former presidents of the club. The reverse features a recessed inscription, 'SMITHFIELD SHOW AND AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY EXHIBITION AWARDED TO J. SAINSBURY LTD WINNERS OF THE KING'S PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP 1951 ABERDEEN ANGUS STEER ELDON OF KINERMONEY'.
