Hello
My name is David Staines and I worked at Sainsburys at 222 St Albans Road North Watford, Herts Branch 322. I worked at this manual (not self service branch) from August 1959 to 1968 as junior, leading and Senior leading salesman. My manager during that time was Ken Collins and Assistant manager Lawrence Symons. I believe our weekly takings were in the region of £2,000. I had many happy memories of the shop and the company . My major memory was winning the Griffin Athletic Gurr Cup for darts in 1963 at the age of 19 in front of a large crowd at Blackfriars. I won many trophies for various sports but the Gurr cup is the only one I have kept because it meant more to me than anything else I had won.
