S.S.A. Family Day Mens 5000 Metres Race shield

Varnished wooden shield with a metal plate in the shape of a banner at the top engraved with the inscription, 'S.S.A. FAMILY DAY' and a further metal plate in the shape of a banner at the bottom engraved with the inscription, 'WINNER'. There is a shield-shaped metal plate at the centre with a stamped design including a garland of leaves, scrolls, beading and a scallop. The plate also features an engraved inscription, 'MENS 5000 METRES RACE' and a centre disc depicting a griffin and featuring an inscription, 'SAINSBURY STAFF ASSOCIATION'.

There are thirteen silver-coloured, shield-shaped metal and plastic plates pinned around the edge of the wooden shield, four of which are inscribed with winners' names and dates.

There is a hinged wooden stand attached to the reverse of the shield.
