In 1994, Sainsbury's undertook a restructuring exercise called Genesis. The Genesis methodology required that a post-implementation review be undertaken of all projects. Each Retail Director was to survey their own area of responsibility and the review was sponsored by C I Harvey.

Contains a press release and a memorandum about the restructuring and voluntary early retirement programme which arose as a result of Genesis. Genesis was a review of central and support functions undertaken by Sainsbury's in 1994. According to the press release, the aim of Genesis was 'to concentrate effort on providing outstanding service throughout all parts of the business, and to simplify and rationalise operations, and eliminate overlaps and duplication'.
