Papers relating to the plans for the development of the proposed Sainsbury's store on the Central Hotel site at Gillingham. Includes correspondence, press cuttings, broadcast transcripts, site plan.
A planning application for the development was rejected. An appeal was launched but this was later withdrawn, as Sainsbury's were unable to agree terms with the site owners and the development did not go ahead. [However, SavaCentre (jointly owned by Sainsbury's and BHS) later developed a hypermarket on a different site in the Gillingham area].
