Section of tiled wall consisting of 1 complete and 2 partial rectangular machine pressed glazed relief tiles with brown floral borders. The middle contains yellow and white chrysanthemums and tan leaves against a blue background. Also portion of 2 glazed light blue and brown border tiles, 2 partial fragments of plain glazed cream tiles above the border and 2 partial cream glazed relief tiles with stylised crown imperial design below the border. All held together by original cement and some brick work.
Typical example of the house style used to decorate many of Sainsbury's new branches from the 1890s until after the World War Two. It would have formed part of the border surrounding the central motifs of stylised crown imperials on the walls of a Sainsbury's branch.
