Tile (from 12/16 High Street, Kingsland branch)

Machine pressed relief tile featuring two Art Nouveau style flowers, and a leaf and scroll design. The design is painted with coloured glazes; dark brown for the border, light brown for the background, blue and green for the scrolls, green for the leaves and yellow for the flower. One of the tiles has a raised inscription on the back, 'Minton China Works Stoke on Trent'. The tile was used at the Sainsbury's branch at 12/16 High Street, Kingsland, Dalston where it formed part of a larger pattern. The tiles are still attached to the original cement work.
