Rectangular machine pressed glazed relief tile with brown floral borders. The middle contains yellow and white chrysanthemums and tan leaves against a blue background. A small piece is missing from the right hand corner of the tile. A raised inscription on the reverse includes the maker's name, 'M. H. & Co' (Minton, Hollins & Co.) and '43 W'. The tile is a typical example of the house style used to decorate many of Sainsbury's new branches from the 1890s until after World War Two. It would have formed part of the border surrounding the central motifs of stylised crown imperials on the walls of a branch.
