Bulletins (Daily Bulletins and Special Bulletins) and memoranda from Sainsbury's head office to branches concerning various matters relating to the operation of the business including issues relating to the effects of the war. Subjects include staff, rationing, and company policies and procedures. Some letters to district supervisors are also included.
The bulletins appear originally to have been mounted on the back of scrap paper (including used daily return sheets for branch staff and old memoranda to branches). Many bulletins have been cut up into smaller extracts.
Most of the bulletins are numbered from 1 to 597 (until 26 Aug 1941) and from 1 to 399 (from 27 Aug 1941).
