Bulletins published by Retail Communications at Sainsbury's head office to advise Sainsbury's stores about the advertising material they were due to receive and also provide an update on current national advertising campaigns. The bulletins were issued weekly on Fridays.
The bulletins were titled as 'Marketing and Advertising Today' until 12th April 1996 and then 'Marketing and Advertising Weekly' (or 'Marketing & Advertising Weekly') from 19th April 1996. There was however no change to the bulletin other than what could be considered a more appropriate title for what had always been a weekly bulletin.
This includes instructions on displaying point of sale (POS) advertising such as posters, banners and barker cards (shelf edge cards which promote products and services), and information on leaflets and recipe cards sent to stores. The national advertising updates let stores know about any television commercials which were due to be broadcast that week and list the products to be promoted in press advertisements.
