"Health and Safety Matters" training video

"A training video emphasising to all management and staff the importance of safe working practices and the need to follow company safety and fire procedures. Video from Sainsbury's Retail Training Department."

The first part of the video (starting at 00:04) covers a wide range of accidents and potentially unsafe practices, including: slips, trips and falls; poor manual handling, lifting and carrying techniques; incorrect use of trolleys, trucks and dangerous machinery (saws, bandsaws, knives, meat slicers, cardboard balers). Includes footage of staff demonstrating unsafe working methods in a branch and how this impacts on staff and customers.

The second part of the video (starting at 06:58) tells staff how they should respond to a fire in a branch, including setting off fire alarms, telephoning the general office, using fire extinguishers (including different types) and blankets, evacuation procedures, fire exits, assembly points, and preventing fire hazards. Includes footage of staff and customers inside and outside Green Park Station, Bath branch.
