Television commercial (40 seconds - but only a partial copy appears to be held in the archive) for Sainsbury's Reward Card (loyalty card) extra reward points promotion. The advertisement was filmed on 11th (at Ladbroke Grove store), 12th (at Streatham store) and 13th (at Coptic Street Studio, London) December 1996 - it was filmed at the same time as 'Points, Points, Points'. It was due to air on television from Sunday 29th December 1996.
The commercial is presented by television presenter Caron Keating, and begins with her in a store saying "At Sainsbury's there's never been a better time to collect extra reward points, and you'll find them on a wide selection of items...". The Archive does not appear to have a digitised copy of the full advert, only the first few seconds. The remainder of the advertisement (as detailed in the post-production script in the advertising agency file) featured brief vox-pop comments of customers explaining what they like about the promotion.
This version featured Golden Wonder crisps, PG Tips, Sainsbury's Classic Cola, Weight Watchers ready meals, and Sainsbury's chicken. Two other versions of the advert were produced (but do not appear to be held in the archive) "Product Points 2" (AMV/SAPP383/040) and "Product Points 3" (AMV/SAPP384/040). From the scripts in the advertising agency file it appears the only difference between the three was a variation in the products featured to reflect offers available at the time.
Advertising agency: Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO Ltd, reference AMV/SAPP382/040. Background music is entitled "Thirty Something" - the theme to several 1990s Sainsbury's adverts.
