Photograph showing the High Street in Colchester close to the Sainsbury's branch at 40-41 High Street. The branch is just out of shot, it would have been between the Red Lion Hotel (whose sign protrudes out on the left) and the Marks & Spencer store (which is the first building visible on the left). In the background, the 'Jumbo Water Tower' dominates the view. This appears to be part of a series of photos taken by Brian Shuel, circa 1969 in towns where new branches were to open (some of the other photos in that series appear in 'JS Journal' February/March 1969 page 4 to 17).
