A sign can be seen inside which reads 'Also at North End, [Ge]orge Street, [Lo]ndon Road" - this sign (plus comparison with photos of other Croydon stores) indicates that the photograph was almost certainly taken at the 65 South End branch. Comparison with photos of other branches in Croydon and modern images of former Sainsbury's branches in Croydon, also provide evidence that it is not any of those other stores.

Oswald Beaumont Carpenter (pictured and named in your other South End image of the period) seems to be the same manager as in this picture. I have blown the images up and the faces are very similar.
OBC was my great grandfather. Our family has the original of the other image, which was loaned to JS in 1985 for the archive.
