The ATMs at Crystal Palace were the first ATMs to be installed at a Sainsbury's branch. At the time it was innovative to have ATMs at a supermarket, and as a result Sainsbury's won Super Marketing magazine's Retailer of the Month award for June 1983 (as reported in 'JS Journal' September 1983 page 3).
This photograph appears to be part of a set of photographs. These were probably taken by Brian Shuel as they are very similar to a set of Brian Shuel's black and white photographs (in Brian Shuel's box SSS), and feature the same customers.
