Photograph of a display in the window of the Sainsbury's branch at 48 Chapel Market (formerly Chapel Street) in Islington, London. Through the window a member of staff can be seen serving a customer, and some of the interior can be seen. In the window display is Freshly Cut Boiling Fowl, Beef Sausages, Danish New Laid eggs, bacon, Dutch Gouda, New Zealand Cheddar, Danish Blue Vein cheese, and Dutch Edam. A notice advises that the items (or some of them) in the window are 'on sale to all' - presumably indicating that customers did not need to be registered with the shop under the rationing scheme for those products. A poster advertises a reduction in the price of eggs "Cheaper and cheaper ... Eggs down again!".
