Photograph of the 1963 extension to the Sainsbury's branch at 132-136 Lewisham High Street, Lewisham, London. The photo is labelled "Additional View 'B' (Early Closing Day)" - this caption seems to explain why the roads around the store on the picture are relatively empty of parked cars, compared with other images such as SA/BRA/7/L/11/3/39, 42 and 44 (which were presumably taken when the shops in the town were open). The picture shows the corner of the building on Rhyme Road and Romer Avenue. The back of the Marks & Spencer store can also be seen. This location including the Sainsbury's store, Rhyme Road and Romer Avenue was later redeveloped in the 1970s as a shopping centre (currently named the Lewisham Shopping Centre). Photograph by Maillard Studio, Weymouth Street, London, W1 (reference 709/64).
