Photograph taken during the visit of Christopher Patten MP (Secretary of State for the Environment) to Sainsbury's Wolverhampton branch at 20 St George's Parade. The photo shows Lord Sainsbury (left) and Mr Patten (right), with some of Sainsbury's environmentally friendlier products - a roll of bin bags, and a trolley which includes items from the Sainsbury's Greencare range. The visit was reported in 'JS Journal' November 1990 (page 3) which explained that the company had recently won a Premier Award at the 1989 Environment Awards for the store. The Chairman of Sainsbury's, Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover showed Mr Patten around the store including environmental aspects such as energy efficiency, recycling waste and environmentally friendly products.
