Photographs and press cuttings of children and their teachers who had been given money by the Good Neighbour Scheme. The children and their teachers were usually photographed with staff from their local Sainsbury's branch who presented them with a cheque.
The Good Neighbour Scheme was launched in 1983 with £7000 from the Sainsbury's Charitable Fund. By 1989 it had awarded some £250 000 to local community projects helping youngsters and the under fives, the disabled and the elderly. The scheme targets a particular group each year. In 1989, money was directed towards groups working with the under fives.
