Videos containing recordings of reports from national and regional television news programmes (BBC, ITV Thames, and Channel 4) about the Sainsbury Wing at the National Gallery, London.
Most of the reports discuss the architecture of the building by Robert Venturi, and varying opinions about it. Some videos feature Sir John Sainsbury (later Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover), Simon Sainsbury, and Tim Sainsbury who funded the wing.
One report (from Channel 4 News) also discusses in depth the support for the arts in general given by the Sainsbury family and Sainsbury’s business.
Four videos are included, one of which contains all the news reports, two contain one or two reports which appear to be duplicates from the first video, and one contains an undated recording from BBC 'London Plus' which may possibly be a duplicate from the first video (this tape has not been digitized so the content is not certain).
