Irradiation of food correspondence and other papers

Correspondence and other papers relating to food irradiation (treatment of food with ionizing radiation, which is intended to preserve and improve the safety of food). This includes letters from members of the public and organisations who were concerned about irradiated food, and internal correspondence on Sainsbury's policy towards irradiated food. Other papers include press releases, reports, notes of meetings, and questions and answers documents about food irradiation. A small number of items relating to pesticides are also included.

Most items in the file are from, addressed to or copied to M.D. Conolly (Sainsbury's Director of Marketing and Chairman of Environment Affairs Committee).
