Fourth draft (version 2/91) of BREEAM: The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method: An Environmental Assessment for New Superstores and Large Grocery Stores. The document was published by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) and compiled by Dr V.H.C. Crisp and D. Butler of BRE and J. Doggart and M. Attenborough of the ECD Partnership.
The report draws heavily on the original BREEAM 1/90 report on new office buildings, and the work to refine the assessment method to deals with superstores was sponsored by J Sainsbury plc, with advice from P. Ibbotson, B. Wright, I. Taylor, P. Grix, S. Harman, T. Greenwood, A. Park, and J. Hall.
The report provides a method of how the environmental impact of large stores can be assessed. It covers global effects such as carbon dioxide emissions, neighbourhood effects such as noise, and indoor effects such as air quality in the building.
