"A 24 hour look at Sainsbury's" leaflet

Leaflet providing a summary of Sainsbury's corporate film "Shopping Day - a 24 hour look at Sainsbury's" made in 1963. The leaflet was designed by Sainsbury's Design Studio.

Corporate film, showing various activities of the company in a day. The film has no narration, just voices representing the staff and customers shown on the film. Written and directed by Don Higgins, produced by Jack Lee, music by Ron Grainer. The film was made by Augusta Films for Sainsbury's. 25 minutes long. An accompanying leaflet about the film is available (see SA/PR/FLM/1). An audio recording of the film is also included. Contents: 1. Introduction with historic photographs of Sainsbury's shops etc. 2. Lorry driver taking deliveries early in the morning. 3. The first delivery of beef being unloaded and inspected at Sainsbury's Union Street warehouse at Blackfriars, London. 4. Lorry driver arriving at Bury St Edmunds store. Inside the self-service store with staff serving customers. 5. At an egg farm with Sainsbury's driver picking up eggs. Briefly returns to shop with eggs on sale. 6. Inspection and packing of eggs at Sainsbury's egg packing station at Kenninghall near Norwich. 7. Morning meeting in the sausage and pie factory at Blackfriars. 8. Making of pies in Blackfriars factory. 9. At wharf in Bermondsey, arrival of Dutch butter for Sainsbury's. 10. Quality control - dried and canned fruit, fruit cake 10. In Buntingford depot. 11. In a counter service shop in Hoxton (180 Hoxton Street) with staff serving customers. 12. Items being loaded into lorries at depot. Driver starts work at the depot again and takes out the deliveries for another day.
