Covers staff who joined Sainsbury's in the 1890s. Includes the following details:
- Name and home address of staff member
- References from previous employer(s)
- "Qualification", i.e. what job the staff member was hired to do
- Salary
- "Branch sent to" (or department if working at Blackfriars)
- "Date Engaged", i.e. when they started working for Sainsbury's
- "Left Employ.", i.e. when they finished working for Sainsbury's
- "Reasons for Dismissal"
The volume is divided up according to the first letter of each staff member's surname, and within each section staff are recorded in roughly the order they joined the company. The first page of the volume is an index listing the pages on which each letter appears. At the front of the volume the names and address of staff at Stamford Street are also given.
