The video provides advice about pensions and the choices required as a result of changes to the State Earnings Related Pension Scheme (SERPS). It explains the differences between company pensions and personal pensions, and benefits of company pensions. An explanatory leaflet “The J Sainsbury Pension & Death Benefit Scheme. 1988-Your Pension” was produced to accompany the video.

The video is presented by television presenters Valerie Singleton and Mike Smith. Two other actors are included – an unidentified female actor and Jeff Stewart. Interviews with some members of Sainsbury’s staff are included and their questions are answered. Some ‘vox pop’ interviews with customers are also included.
