Photograph which is part of a set which shows streets and buildings in the areas of London which are associated with the birthplaces and early years of the family of John James and Mary Ann Sainsbury. This was formerly known as Oakley Street where John James Sainsbury was born at number 5. Photograph by Brian Shuel (reference SE 29/26a). A handwritten note accompanying the photos (perhaps written by Brian Shuel) explains that "the block in which No 5 would have been is on the south side at the Old Vic end, and has completely gone and is now a car park". The photo also features a J Sainsbury van. [Since the photograph was taken, the road has been realigned in part and this section is part of 'Waterloo Millennium Green'].
