Photograph which is part of a set which shows streets and buildings in the areas of London which are associated with the birthplaces and early years of the family of John James and Mary Ann Sainsbury. Photograph by Brian Shuel (reference SE 30/3). This photo shows the site of Mary Street which it seems had a connection with the family. A handwritten note accompanying the photos (perhaps written by Brian Shuel) explains that "the whole area has almost completely changed. In the early 1900s the name was changed to Sudbury St because of duplication in the district. Sudbury St has now disappeared due to extensive war damage and the current extensions to St Thomas's Hospital. It was at right angles to Crozier St about half way along (about at the entrance to the building site in the pictures). Crozier St is now the main way into the hospital".
