Photograph by Douglas Glass, London, W6 (reference 22 1699 1959). The photograph is one of a number of portraits taken by Douglas Glass of Sainsbury's directors (who were mostly Sainsbury's family members at that time). The photograph is number 22, out of a series of shots taken during this photoshoot. Rough proof prints and contact prints of this picture and the other shots which were not used are also included (contact prints for 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 14 to 18, 20 to 25, 27 and 28; rough proofs for 8, 9, 16 to 18, 22 to 25 and 27). The contact prints are generally annotated to indicate how the images could be cropped - however number 22 and number 18 (see SA/FAM/3/33/1/2) are the only ones with a finished print. There also were negatives for most of these shots, however these had seriously deteriorated with 'vinegar syndrome'. Two copies are mounted on cardboard with signature in pencil by Douglas Glass.
