Lord Sainsbury 40 years of service video

Video produced for chairman Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover’s (John Davan Sainsbury) anniversary of 40 years of service with the company from 1950 to 1990. The video is of a light-hearted nature as a spoof ‘British Movietone News’ cinema newsreel with historic film clips and images reviewing the years from 1927 (year of Lord Sainsbury’s birth) to 1990 accompanied by a comedic commentary.

The film clips and images include some featuring Lord Sainsbury and some general historical footage (events in the news etc) from that time period. The commentary (voiceover) is done in the style of a newsreel announcer and combines both jokes with references to actual events in Lord Sainsbury’s life (e.g. becoming chairman in 1969).

The video was presumably produced just for use in a private celebratory event (possibly the anniversary dinner held to celebrate the occasion).
