Account books which appear to list expenditure on branches on various categories of items each grouped under a particular code number. The figures are given on a weekly basis, and are divided into figures for self service branches and figures for service branches (counter service) - these are total figures for all branches of each type - information on individual branches is not included.
The books are titled on the front as "Branch journal sundries" but are not in the standard format of a journal record, and are not in a double entry format (where each debit is matched with a credit to another account). It is possibly a 'control book' since it is in a similar format to the capital control books and a note found in an envelope inside one of the books is headed 'Sundries Control Book'.
The codes used in these books are similar to those used in other account books (eg ledgers) and so it may be possible to cross-reference these with other account books.
