The reverse of the wrapper features two inscriptions, 'Sainsbury's say Thank you for their first 100 years' and 'We have baked this cake specially for the occasion ... have a slice and join in the celebration'.
On 15 April one million slices of cake were given away free to customers who came into Sainsbury's branches.

File also includes one advertisement proof from the 100th Birthday Campaign advertising free pieces of cake for Sainsbury's customers (advertisement was due to appear on 15 Apr 1969 in the Southern editions of the Daily Mirror and the Daily Sketch). It is unclear whether this advertisement was produced by Ogilvy & Mather Ltd. as well. Includes campaigns 'Good Food Costs Less', '100 Good Food Years' and 'Super-saves'.
