Photographs showing building work in progress to fit out the new computer room at Sainsbury's head office Stamford House.
This work was to prepare the room for the new EMIDEC 1100 computer (Sainsbury's first computer) which was to be installed there. The room had to have specially controlled environmental conditions - the temperature and humidity needed to be controlled and the air needed to be filtered to prevent dust settling on to magnetic tapes.
Some of the photographs feature in JS Journal April 1961 "Preparing for Emidec".
