Includes baling of cardboard boxes, bags of cheese scrapings, bones, fat waste and employee Fred Corby scraping cheese at Basingstoke depot. All these by-products were recycled: cardboard boxes were sent to a paper mill for recycling, cheese scrapings were sold to a cheese processor, bones used for animal foodstuffs, and oil extracted from fat waste sent to edible fat manufacturers or soap makers.
Some of the photographs were used in an article "Waste not, want not" about the recycling of by-products at Sainsbury's depots in JS Journal March 1975.
