'Jubilee Commemoration' advert for West Croydon branch, 1932 with headline '1882-1932. J. Sainsbury. 9-11 London Road West Croydon Jubilee Commemoration Friday & Saturday October 21 & 22'.
'When Croydon was a country town and Purley merely a village, the vision of London Suburban life as it is to-day revealed itself to the late Mr. J. J. Sainsbury; and thus 50 years ago, 13 years after the foundation of his business in Holborn, he entered upon his first big suburban venture. Since 1882 The shops of J. Sainsbury have had many imitators, but progress in every department keeps them still ahead. This splendid old branch has recently been much enlarged and brought up to date in every way. The shop will be specially decorated to celebrate its jubilee, and we shall particularly welcome all who dealt with us in the early days. There will be Special Offers in All Departments and these will also be obtainable at the other local branches'. Branches mentioned: South End, George Street, Lower Addiscombe, Church Street.
Includes separate note that the advert was included in the Croydon Advertiser with date.
