'During recent years there has been increasing interest on the part of the shopping public in the source of production of the many commodities which furnish their tables and their larders, but in some districts the excellent foodstuffs actually produced in this country have not received the amount of publicity they deserve. A visit to Sainsbury's beautiful shops should do much to encourage the housewife to buy the best of everything that is British. Sainsbury's have long been associated with the production of home foodstuffs, and many districts throughout the country have benefitted through their encouragement in the production of English eggs and table poultry. It is impossible to enumerate all the articles of home produce to be found in Messrs.Sainsbury's local branches, but a visit to the Fresh Meat Departments is well worth while. The prices are most reasonable, including those for the choicest cuts, and even to the unsophisticated eye it is impossible to imagine that better quality could be found anywhere'.
