The advertisement starts with presenter Michael Barratt walking towards the checkout in a Sainsbury's store "Last January Sainsbury's introduced Discount '78, now more and more shoppers have seen what they can save...". It then shows a series of vox-pop comments from customers in a Sainsbury's store giving their thoughts about the discounts.

It ends with Barratt at the checkout "Sainsbury's Discount '78. It's saving you money all year round", and then one last customer comment and caption "Good food costs less at Sainsbury's".
