Series of television commercials in which celebrities were shown explaining how to make a recipe using ingredients from Sainsbury's. The commercials have the slogan "Sainsbury's. Everyone's Favourite Ingredient", and were backed up by promotional material in Sainsbury's stores including recipe cards.
The campaign was considered highly successful and the advertisements often led to significantly increased sales of the ingredients which were featured. The campaign started in 1991, in which year it won the Campaign of the Year Award from Campaign magazine (advertising trade journal) and continued for several years with many different celebrities.
Two advertisements are also included which are in the style of the recipe adverts, but do not involve cooking - one in which John Cleese promotes a range of prepared party foods and one in which Ulrikka Jonsson promotes customer service at Sainsbury's. The commercials were created by the Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO advertising agency.
