"John Nettles" (Continental Frittata) celebrity recipe television commercial

The fourth commercial in the celebrity recipe series. The advertisement features John Nettles who was known at the time the commercial was aired primarily from the television series 'Bergerac'. It was broadcast in October 1991 (see Special Bulletin 385/91 and 396/91) and re-run in November 1992.

The advert was filmed from 18th to 26th September 1991 (with the 'Susannah York' and 'Robert Morley' commercials) at York Way Studios, London and broadcast on television (on the ITV and Channel 4 network except for the Ulster, STV, Border and Grampian transmission areas and on BSkyB) from 20th October to 2nd November 1991 and 17th to 30th November 1991. There appear to have two versions of the 1991 commercial - one with clock number AMV/SACT104/060 and one with number AMV/SACT107/060. (The different versions may possibly relate to a recut of the ending to shorten the egg mixture pour on - mentioned in the advertising agency's file for the advert, but this is unclear).

The November 1992 version (clock number AMV/SACT137/060) was slightly altered with a new insert filmed (done during the filming for the Zoe Wanamaker and Felicity Kendal recipe adverts on 17th to 23rd September 1992). The end frame was changed due to a redesign of the bottle label for Sainsbury's Bergerac Rouge wine.
