Photocopy of advert from the Evening Standard, 3 June 1940, written from the point of view of 'the butcher at Sainsbury's'.
The advertisement points out that 'the Armed Forces have first call on the country's beef supplies [...] [at Sainsbury's] we put our allotted supplies on sale evenly all through the hours of the day and all through the days of the week. That gives everyone an equal chance to get beef regardless of when they have to do their shopping [...] In any case, there's plenty of other good fresh meat, as well as unrationed sundries like liver and tongue and kidneys.'
