The price list is divided into two parts: Provisions Department (comprising bacon and hams, butter, cheese, eggs, charcuterie, poultry and game, pork and New Zealand lamb) and Grocery Department. There is a paragraph of information about the company on the first inside page, and the entry for each type of product in the Provisions Department is prefaced with a sentence commenting on the product, its production and storage. Similarly the Grocery Department entry begins with an advertisement for the storage and serving methods used by Sainsbury's. The footer of each page has a promotional solgan, for example " J. Sainsbury for Cleanliness". The front cover is beige and has a black and white image of shoppers in the interior of a Sainsbury store, the back cover has a colour advertisement (featuring aviator Amy Johnson) for Blue Kaddy tea.
