Sainsbury's Blue Parrot Cafe range was launched in January 2001. It was developed to deliver food with great taste and improved nutritional quality for children aged 5-11 years and included over 150 lines.
The products were developed in accordance with strict nutritional criteria that included: controlled salt and fat level, reduced use of additives, restricted colours and/or preservatives, only natural flavours with no flavour enhancers, the use of fruit and vegetables, additives approved by the Hyperactive Childrens Support Group (HACSG).
