Square metal tins with detachable lids used to hold biscuits. These tins held 1 kg or 2.2lb of biscuits.
The lid is decorated with a picture printed in white, dark brown and tan on a beige background. It depicts the Sainsbury's branch at 18/19 The Exchange, Balham which opened in 1888. There is also an inscription on each lid, 'Assorted Biscuits'. The picture and inscription are enclosed by a scrolled border.
Part of the picture, which features two horses and carriages, their drivers and their passengers together with a horse and its rider, has been duplicated on all four sides of the tins. There is also an inscription to the left of three of the pictures, 'SAINSBURY'S Assorted Biscuits', printed in the same style as the inscription on the lid. The fourth side contains a list of ingredients. The pictures, inscriptions and list of ingredients are enclosed by a scrolled border.
The third box has images of biscuits on the bottom of the box.
