Rectangular wooden crate with a lift-off lid. The crate has been constructed using planks of wood held together by iron nails. The lid can be locked in place over the lip of the crate by hooking two iron fixings attached to the lid under two wooden batons attached to the side of the crate.
There are black stamped inscriptions on the lid and side of the crate. The inscription on the lid indicates what the original contents of the crate would have been, 'EGGS WITH CARE'. The sides refer to "The E.M.B. [Egg Marketing Board?] of N.S.W. [New South Wales]". There is also a metal holder on one side of the crate.
