Image showing a tray featuring archive imagery. The picture was included in 'JS Journal' Christmas 1978 page 4. 'JS Journal' states "Tea-time is going to be nostalgia time for those who have bought the new JS [Sainsbury's] tea-tray. Good value too at 79 pence, the 12 inches square tray features the first ever Sainsbury's depot, at Kentish town, and shows the horse-drawn delivery vans leaving Allcroft Passage and the bacon smoking building in the background. In those days this small depot supplied branches in Kentish Town, Islington and Stepney. The tray, which was introduced on December 1 to some 53 branches, is in the traditional JS colours of brown and cream. The design, adapted from the original 1880's engraving produced specifically for decorating paper bags, has not been considered for hardware before. However, it is much admired and the JS hardware buyers hint that there is a possibility that the design may be used in the future on other products".
