Correspondence and other papers including leaflets, press releases and a press cutting about Britain's first national 'Green Shopping Day' which took place on 28 September 1989. Among other things Sainsbury's arranged for primary school children to visit stores selling organic produce. Homebase produced a leaflet on environmental issues to coincide with the event and Sainsbury's produced a leaflet containing a list of environmentally friendly products. Also includes leaflets, photographs and store layouts relating to Sainsbury's 'Greencare' environmentally friendly detergents range, launched in September 1989 and press releases relating to this and other Sainsbury's, Savacentre and Homebase environmental initiatives on and around 'Green Shopping Day'. Contains a draft of Sainsbury's responses to a questionnaire sent out by 'Sustainability' for 'The Green Consumers Supermarket Shopping Guide' and material relating to the 'Green Consumer Guide' and 'Green Consumer Week', September 1988. Also contains an information pack about 'Green Shopping Day' produced by 'Sustainability' and a catalogue of green office supplies produced by 'Universal'. The file mainly contains papers addressed or copied to M.D. Conolly (Chairman of the Environment Affairs Committee and Director of Marketing).
