Press release about a speech by John Sainsbury (chairman) [later Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover] to the Marketing Society on 6 October 1970 in which he "gave a six-point list of demands which the consumer will be making in the next decade in relation to her purchases of food".
Matters discussed include: the 'greater need for larger stores', that 'some planners [are] still living in the days when only a minority of families wanted to shop by car' and that 'competition is [the] best consumer safeguard'.
The press release should have been accompanied by a copy of the full speech (but this is not included with this copy, see SA/FAM/5/14 for speech).
