The section of the Public Relations Department which managed this function was referred to as Consumer Public Relations (approximately during the 1980s to 1990s). Activities that were carried out include issuing press releases and giving out samples to the media, giving individual press briefings, organising press events, organizing tasting sessions (including wine tasting events for wine writers), giving product previews to magazines, and organizing media interviews.
The section also managed the home economics speaker service at one time (by 1992) and publications (mainly cookery books and children's books, see SA/PUB) - items relating to these functions are placed elsewhere in the collection.
