Video produced to inform Sainsbury's staff about developments in the company during the 1986-1987 financial year.

The video may have been intended for both external audiences (e.g. investors, the media) and Sainsbury’s staff (who are thanked at the end).

Contents:
1. Kenneth Kendall (television newsreader) introduces the video (out-of-vision) and summarises the company’s financial figures. Footage included of a store interior with customers and staff; delicatessen counter; Sir John Sainsbury [later Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover] opening The Saltisford, Warwick branch.
2. Susan Grossman (Consumer Journalist) talks about factors which influence her choice in supermarkets. Footage includes [Essex Place, Chiswick] store exterior and a store interior.
3. Sir John Davan Sainsbury (Chairman and Chief Executive) explains their success depends on how well all staff serve the customer.
4. Discusses customer service and staff training including the Building Better Business programme. Footage is included of a store interior; staff in a store taking part in the Building Better Business training programme; checkout training using a La Belle Duo system. An interview with Sir Roy Griffiths (Deputy Chairman and Managing Director) is included.
5. Discusses products including the new Sainsbury’s Simply Heat & Serve range of ready meals. Footage is included of product displays and packaging; production of ready meals at factory in Chard; and food sampling. An interview with Tom Vyner (Assistant Managing Director, Buying and Marketing) is included.
6. Discusses technology including barcode scanning checkouts and use of computers. Footage is included of scanning checkouts; computers used in a branch for ordering; mainframe computer at head office; lorry arriving at depot; staff moving products in a depot and checking goods. An interview with Joe Barnes (Assistant Managing Director, Retail) is included.
7. Sir John Sainsbury concludes the programme talking about priorities for the future of Sainsbury’s and thanking staff.
