Recording of a special business television programme for Sainsbury's staff (mainly store management teams) about changes to the senior management of the company. The programme was broadcast on the "SMART" network (Sainsbury's Management and Retail Television) on 8 October 1999 by satellite to Sainsbury's stores, depots and offices. It was presented by John Howard in the studio.
It had been announced on the morning of 8 October 1999 that Dino Adriano was moving from his position as Group Chief Executive and Chief Executive of Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd to concentrate solely on the group role. David Bremner was moving from his position as Group Deputy Chief Executive and Chairman of Homebase and Shaw’s to become Managing Director of Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd.
The programme features presenter John Howard interviewing Dino Adriano and David Bremner, and they explain the reasons for the changes, reject press speculation that Adriano was leaving and that Adriano and Bremner didn't work together well, and explain the new management structure. They also discuss David Bremner’s background, the board in general including new Group Finance Director Roger Matthews, the company's performance and expected reaction to the announcement by the City [the London financial sector].
Duration: 11 minutes (excluding 2 minutes countdown clock).
